keys not working on macOS

i'm finding that the media buttons including
* KC_MPRV aka "Media Prev"
* KC_VOLD aka "Vol -"
* KC_VOLU aka "Vol +"
* KC_MNXT aka "Media Next"
* KC_MRWD aka "Prev Track macOS" 
* KC_MFFD aka "Next Track macOS"
* KC_MSTP aka "Media Stop"
* KC_MPLY aka "Media Play"

do not work on macOS 15.7.2.

OTOH
* KC__VOLDOWN
* KC__VOLUP

work as expected.

How does one setup these media buttons on macOS?
