Unite View and Edit modes for projects

The screenshot is from the main view of a project.

I find it confusing that even though I have the right to edit basically everything (I have Staff access), I need to switch between View and Edit modes and they show different stuff. It would be easier and faster to use one unified view where some of the fields have an Edit option, and others do not.

Hi @szakib , the point of introduction of different views - edit / view / manage / etc - was to reduce overload of data in a single page. Users without permissions for a certain group of actions, for example, do not see these tabs and get a cleaner view.

Do you have something specific that you want to edit that you see under "view" mode?

Unfortunately it is not possible at the moment to merge these views, but maybe we could find an improvement.

We do work on a new idea of having more stakeholder specific views, hopefully this can address the problem better, but this is on the mid-term plan.

The splitting of the sub-tabs between View and Edit seems arbitrary. A few examples:

• Within the View / Project Dashboard sub-tab, Description has an edit button.
• The objects in the View / Resources and View / Team sub-tabs also have actions available. The "..." menu item next to the resources has a rather long list of available active actions.
• The "Audit Logs" sub-tab is the only sub-tab of "View" that is actually read-only.

Also, while testing EFP integrations with, I have seen several people get confused by the fact that there are sub-tabs within the View/Edit main tabs. So my suggestion would be to take View and Edit away and just have one level of tabs with the 4 + 6 items that are now sub-tabs. The 4+6 items could maybe be filtered/rearranged based on who the user is.
