What does theme-provider do?

I would like to ask, what exactly does the theme-provider field under styling do for wayle's config?

From what I've tried, I have kept theme-provider's value to "wayle", and still changed wayle's colors through external tools like wallust and matugen, so I would like to know what difference would it make if I changed theme-provider's value to "matugen" or "wallust"?

Theme providers just makes Wayle the driving force behind matugen, pywal and wallust color generation via the wallpapers you select through it.
