Whats the current state of the exporter?

Hello wonderful people,

I was wondering whats the current state of the exporter? For example the readme states theres still an issue with cumulus for the ASIC-Exporter, since then there have been several cumulus releases. If the issue still persists, could you explain what it is and how severe it is?

Another question I have, is there a grafana dashboard somewhere available, so I don't have to design one myself?

Sorry for the late response. We are REALLY bad at keeping up with GitHub. Lots of work...
Anyways!

I'm currently working on fixing an internal issue related to using this exporter alongside our EdgeCore AS4610-54T's. I don't really know what was/is the problem with the ASIC collector, as fluepke (the original author), is no longer with us and probably won't be able to answer this question.

I'll keep this issue open as I'm working on this and see how the current status of the project is as well as if the ASIC collector does or doesn't work. Sadly, I can't tell you when, or if I make some progress as this is not very prioritized at the moment, but it's on the list, somewhere. I really hope you understand!

We are still working on other matters, but we anticipate the rollout of the new, updated exporter to be completed by the end of Q2 (hopefully :< ...)

It did prove to work well in the lab and even with the old version, on most of our hosts.

Once this is rolled out everywhere, we can do some sampling on our hosts to see how it performs. I don't expect many issues, but I can't guarantee anything for the ASIC exporter yet. I'd classify its status as "unknown" for now as the existing knowledge about it has left this company and I haven't touched it yet.

Generally, you should be able to expect the exporter to function effectively, particularly after recent updates since my last comment and once you have your hwmon configuration file all set up for your device (Maybe push it back to us, as of #4 ? That would be greatly appreciated).

Try it out if you want to and report back any issues you're getting. It does actively run on many of our hosts, even though some specific ones have shown issues that have been fixed recently.
