All vcs / git changes have dissapearred

Now I've installed material ui and night owl theme. All the git vcs changes shown in the gutter (and by files in the file tree) have dissapeared.
This looks to be a bug as these are enabled in settings (see pic below).

Hi, you can re-enable that under: Editor>General>Highlight Modified Lines in Gutter

Thanks that fixed the gutter vcs problem. Is there a way to get the different colours of modified files in the file tree back?

I am not aware of this. Can you share some screenshots showing what exactly is happening?
