Select image file pop-up

When I use the NativeGallery.GetImageFromGallery() method, a pop-up appears with only two buttons. I can only click the upper right button to browse and then select an image. There is no related image displayed in the first pop-up. Is this a system-built pop-up that must appear? Can I skip the first window and directly enter the browsing window, or display all images or videos directly in the first window? The version I am using is 1.9.1, Unity 2022.3.62。

I haven't actually tested the plugin in VR myself but I vaguely remember bug reports about app freezing after selecing the image in VR; but if it works for you, awesome!

That being said, you could try calling either of these in Awake and then 🤞:

When I click a button to pop up the file manager and select an image, the screen goes black for a moment before returning to my Unity program. What could be the reason for this? Is it caused by the switching between two Activities? Is there a solution? It is possible that this blackout might lead to the VR program crashing. When switching back to the UnityActivity after selecting a file, some VR projects may cause instant resource loading, leading to a surge in memory and ultimately causing a crash.

I also found a problem. When I use the NativeGallery.GetMixedMediaFromGallery() method, I pass in one NativeGallery.MediaType.Image and another NativeGallery.MediaType.Video. When I click the first button to pass in Image and select a picture, it opens normally and displays all the picture categories. Then, when I click another button to pass in Video, the pop-up window still shows picture data and does not open the video category. When I click Video first, I find that it opens the picture category instead. Is this a bug, or is it due to caching?
The results of NativeGallery.GetMixedMediaFromGallery() and NativeGallery.GetImageFromGallery()/NativeGallery.GetVideoFromGallery() are exactly opposite. 1. NativeGallery.GetImageFromGallery() cannot display all images, but NativeGallery.GetMixedMediaFromGallery() can display all images when passed an Image object,
2. NativeGallery.GetVideoFromGallery() can normally display all videos, but NativeGallery.GetMixedMediaFromGallery() fails to display videos even if passed in.
This is the result of my experiment. Can we unify the results so that I can ensure consistency in the pop-up pages.

GetMixedMediaFromGallery uses ACTION_GET_CONTENT whereas GetImageFromGallery and GetVideoFromGallery use ACTION_PICK. I'm guessing the difference is related to that. You can enforce ACTION_GET_CONTENT for GetImageFromGallery using the ajc.SetStatic("preferGetContent", true); code I've provided above. According to your description, I'd recommend setting it to true for GetImageFromGallery and false for GetVideoFromGallery.

That is interesting. If I understood you correctly, GetImageFromGallery simply doesn't work for you on v1.9.3?

Sounds similar to the VR problem I've heard. There is no known fix for this unfortunately. Which is why I usually recommend SimpleFileBrowser on VR.

If you can load the mp4 file without any issues, then don't worry about the path. It must be a security feature of Android to hide the real file path behind an abstraction layer. But if you're caching the file path in PlayerPrefs for future use, that will probably not work.

To preserve filenames, try calling this in Awake or Start:

I unfortunately don't know. Plugin is reportedly problematic in VR. But the source code is available so if you're using AI, I'd highly recommend iterating on the plugin with AI and see if there is a solution. Your findings would also benefit my plugins.
