our route handler was supposed to also decode querystrings but yeah we're not doing that - we definitely should - Is this a bug? Is this a new feature? Not sure. We don't have any tests in place and yeah like we're not really using it upstream anywhere soooooo

cc/ @toddself thoughts on what version we should publish?
