Add Math Preview for Math Mode

Inspired by this VS Code extension, I want to provide a live preview for symbols, indices, exponents, etc. in Math Mode

The VS Code extension seems to leverage the fact that the editor is basically a webview to do the job, which is impossible due to the way Zed works

My first idea was using font features to contextually replace symbols by others, not so differently to how Zed do it with their custom font "Zed Plex Mono" (you can see it when you type >= for example)

The problem is that I don't know how to tell Zed to use the custom font I'm making only when in Math Mode

Do you have any idea how to achieve this ?

Maybe it can also be done directly when specifying the look-up table used for the contextual alternate font feature, but as of today I've not found how to do it
