docs: update readme badges and main image

This updates some outdated badges in the readme, and changes the hero image on the readme to the (much more striking, if I may say so) angular lightcone.

@nikos-triantafyllou I added this angular lightcone image as a banner image for the readme, but potentially it would be better to use one of your logos that incorporates this image instead?

I'm happy for you to give it a go -- I think you're better at design than I am 😆
