This comment was accidentally overwritten at one point, and needs to be expanded.

  • make the name stanza mandatory
  • accept special value :unknown for most stanzas
  • glob/expand
  • plist_add (analogous to plist_set)
  • defaults_set (analogous to plist_set)
  • make postflight methods available in all similar blocks (currently some are, but not documented)
  • suppress methods which should not be exposed within postflight
  • closed-source license variations (or remove unsupported code) (remove undocumented license :abandoned #8129, delete undocumented license :trial #8090)
  • extended support for CLI-only Unixish distributions

@federicobond now that we are pushing DSL 1.0, we should list your preflight mini-DSL here and propose a schedule for 1.1. Treat my comment like a wiki entry; feel free to edit.

Binary casks would benefit from improved DSL support. Their number (both current and potential) is sufficiently high to justify the effort.
