PathKit is an all-in-one virtual GM Screen for the TTRPG Pathfinder 2e. Our project aims to eliminate the need for multiple notebooks and applications by offering a one-stop-shop solution for all game data, including NPC backstories, encounters, and shop information.
- Physics based dice roller
- GM customization options to all input
- Create Exploration or Encounter modes
- Add players/NPCS/Beasts/Shops
- Integrated search engine
- Notes Feature
Beta release has everything running except the dice roller and search engine which has some bugs we needed to finalize first. We also managed to meet our stretch goal to import characters from Path builder.
We recommend visiting our website to install the latest version: https://pathkit2e.com/ Alternatively, visit our releases page to download and install the latest version of PathKit.
Keep in mind that PathKit is open-source software that is free to use. we do not have the funding to ensure that our software has signed security certificates through apple and windows. This is pretty typical for such projects, when you download you will have to bypass your computer's security flags: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/open-a-mac-app-from-an-unidentified-developer-mh40616/mac
If you are unfamiliar with the tabletop game Pathfinder we recommend also downloading the tutorial campaign to walk you through how something like PathKit would work.
If you installed alpha release, you may need to also go through some debugging steps listed here, as PathKit relies on your local storage to run. Our pre-release did not guarantee consistent storage into the final build, and the database went through significant changes.
Once your PathKit application file is installed, just open the application and PathKit will launch with the initial layout displayed, ready to load a campaign or enter a new one.
If you downloaded the tutorial, at launch select "import Campaign" and import the tutorial. A walkthrough will appear in the upper right to tell you a bit about how you might run a campaign.
PathKit has a lot of features, as we know how much a GM needs to track, update, and maintain. While we built PathKit to make the information you need as easy to access as possible, the control is ultimately in your hands as you tell the story before you. All GMs get a few custom things stored under their campaign: plans (encounter or exploration), various entities (monsters, players, NPCs...), and notes. For each of these you can create new ones by using the create menu to the upper left of the header at anytime.
You can view any of these in your personal binder, found under the main menu to the upper right of the header at any time, or you can keep it handy as a module in your right panel view. From here you can edit or delete things as needed, keeping your campaign dynamic and able to change on the fly to move with your player's party.
All of these are conveniently stored with each campaign you build, so you can easily create new campaigns, and GM multiple campaigns at a time. This means more gaming time because you can now prebuild all kinds of ways to play, maybe multiple one-shots, alongside your big 1 to 20 level!
We know that GM's need way more than just this custom information, that's why there is also an integrated search bar always located in the center of the top header. So long as your device has internet connection, the search bar gets information directly from Archives of Nethys, making sure you have access to the most update rules, magical items, and more.
Check out how to customize the module view so you can see the physics-based dice roller to help you along! You can select which modules you want to view at anytime in the menu under the View tab.
We hope you enjoy PathKit and it helps you play even more Pathfinder!
