The home page elements might need to stay bigger, but a heavier font doesn't work with the current size for body text imo and the heavier font definitely makes things more readable.

I personally don't like the font weight change. With 400 weight everything feels too "bold" with this font. The contrast between body and headers also suffers IMO, which is especially obvious in the footer (see example below).

I think smaller + heavier is a lot more readable (also closer to common size guidelines), only smaller was too thin in absolute terms iirc. But the contrast to the headings is a good point
