Issue #237 reports ill-formed XML, though the shown XML is well-formed.
Though it's not clear why that happens, maybe it's safer to use a temp buffer for each parse, instead of a dedicated buffer shared among all parses.
In case the error is reproducible, we can see if this fixes #237.
