Design Discovery

caseyvuu edited this page Sep 27, 2025 · 13 revisions

This is an overview of the design of the discovery page.

For reference, we are utilizing Jacob's profile.

image

Here is a basic walkthrough of how our discovery screen works from the perspective of Jacob.

Navigation

First, to get to the screen you click the Discovery button at the bottom of the app.

image

First Profile Encounter

Meet Sky, this the first profile that loads on Jacob's discovery.

Jacob can scroll down to view the rest of her profile to see if they'd be a good match.

image

Based off this information, Jacob and Sky do not seem to match as they do not have too much in common...

Profile Interaction Options

At the bottom of the screen you'll see two green buttons.

  • Pass (left button, bamboo sticks) skip because of no interest/common ground.
  • Like (right button, panda bear) shows interest.
image

Jacob will click the pass button to move onto the next profile and find his new gaming friend.

Loading Screen

This is the placeholder screen Jacob sees until the next profile loads.

Matching

Meet Preston, the next profile on Jacob's discovery page.

image

They have a lot in common so Jacob will click the like button for Preston.

image

Messaging Logic

Jacob has things in common with Preston, and he especially likes Preston’s Minecraft build. To start a conversation, Jacob responds directly to Preston’s “My Best Build” prompt.

image

After typing his message, Jacob clicks the send button in the bottom right.

Once sent, the message will appear in Preston’s notifications. If Preston replies back, they will officially have a new match and ongoing chat in the app.
