#GamesNightViz

This repo serves as a storage container for my work associated with #GamesNightViz. All of the code here is provided as open-source in good faith under the conditions that: (1) use of the original sources of data remains appropriate and is acknowledged; and (2) the use of the code and/or data from this repository is acknowledged.

I'm also more than happy for people to reach out to me to ask any questions about this work. I'm most easily accessible on Twitter through @aaron_s_fox.

Data Viz

Level 1

Code | Visualisation | Tweet

For this visualisation I took the base stats from generation 1 Pokemon and tried to display these states in a 'health-bar' style fashion.

Level 2

Code | Visualisation | Tweet

For this level I took more of an artistic approach in presenting Mario characters based on data from the Super Mario Bros world. The pixels making up the images are enemies and items from Super Mario Bros, and the relative presence of the various enemies/items are based on their prominence in the Super Mario Bros worlds (i.e. those enemies/items that are more common are more prominent in the pixels).

Level 3

Code | Visualisation | Tweet

For this level I wanted to test out using some new Python packages I haven't used much (or at all) — plotly and dash. I focused on the songs in the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as 'power-ups' and mapped out where Link learns these across Hyrule throughout the game, how to play the songs (on the old N64 controller of course) and the power that the song holds.
