there were some problems here with definitions being too long and messing up column alignment, lmk what we should do to fix that

Edits a, e, and k nouns, despite title

the few alignment issues don't show up in editor, so perhaps it's the best it can be.

@jonorthwash approval?

  • Sort alphabetically
  • Remove duplicates (e.g., there seem to be several versions of käntran besides the Dir/LR entry).
  • Pull in latest changes so that A and E aren't edited (we definitely can't be losing all those entries under E!)
  • Fix encoding of glottal stop
  • Should we merge in elements of glosses from before? E.g., for käntran, should we add "slipper" back in? Should "moccasins" be made singular too?

Good catches!

The dictionary only lists "moccasins," not "slipper," but our textbook (which we checked thoroughly) says "moccasin/slipper" ... I think we should go with "moccasin; slipper" - keep both meanings.

As for the plural, Jonathan, we haven't talked about this much, but number is underspecified in Han, so this could mean "moccasins" or "moccasin." There is a plural marker, but it is rather rarely used (possibly only when there is some sort of emphasis on the plurality?). My instinct is to make all of the glosses singular, although I'm not sure what repercussions that would have down the line.

Re-requested review after fixing changes mentioned previously: removing duplicate entries, adding Dir/LR command to variants, and fixing possessives and plurals in glosses where appropriate (eg "moccasin; slipper" rather than "moccasins" and a duplicate line with the gloss "slipper")

This all sounds like a reasonable approach to me.

There's some spacing issues here.

If the gloss is longer than there's room for, then everything should probably be shifted over to accommodate and keep everything lined up.

This should be Dir/LR. The capitalisation is important.

There should be at least one space between " and bare

Is there a reason so many e-initial stems were removed?

It looks like we decided to add in all glosses, separated by ;. We had "goose" before for khah; I assume someone got that from somewhere?

Double-check the other entries too.
