Carlos Torres β€” @carlostxrres

Hi Hi there,

I'm a political scientist, educator, and self-taught developer who enjoys building tools to make systems work better.

I discovered programming while working at Amazon, where I became the sole developer supporting an 80-person operations team, designing and maintaining internal scripts and tools that automated workflows and improved productivity.

Today I work as a Management Technician in the Education Department at Barcelona City Council. While my role is not a software position, I continue to use programming to automate processes, analyze data, and build practical tools when needed.

Programming started as a necessity, quickly became a passion, and is now a serious hobby and a powerful problem-solving tool in my life.

I'm particularly interested in:

  • TypeScript / JavaScript
  • Building small tools that solve real problems
  • Automation and workflow optimization
  • Clean, maintainable code

While my path into tech has been unconventional, I've complemented my self-learning with training at Ironhack:

Year Title
2024 Bootcamp in front-end web development
2023 Bootcamp in back-end web development

Before moving into tech, my background was in Political Science and language education, which gave me a strong foundation in research, communication, and analytical thinking.
