The reason why FreeBSD 14 was there in the first place was probably because FreeBSD 13 might be missing some interfaces required for podman to work. This is just a guess though. We'd need to ask someone who tracked the integration of podman a bit more closely.

Note: FreeBSD 13 will be EOL on April 30, 2026.

We need to be slightly more clear here:

  • podman with official freebsd container runtime images is available for 14 & newer
  • I believe it is possible to have podman run on 13 but you would need to build your own container runtime images

I suggest we just say 14+ here. For most people that will be the most sensible path.

14.x lineage I believe goes out of support in ~ April 2026.

I want to keep the version out of the title and keep the details in the main text. I will think about it and maybe add some version hint in the warning or paragraph.
