Added basic support for maven both the library and the example project. Added maven 'target' directory to .gitignore. Moved the dependencies and plugins version to properties in the parent.

Hi, a while back I created a very specific branch which I mavenized for my needs. The changes made where somewhat internal for my internal publishing needs. Recently I got a few interests about that maven support.
To be able to properly support others using the maven scripts I ended up creating a brand new branch and simply adding the basic maven support to it without any specifics of mine which is what I've should of done the first time.
If you're comfortable including this pull-request in your master branch I'll gladly tell the others to use your master branch directly.
Keep in mind that this the maven support is very very basic.
