Summary of Changes
Hello @AG2AI-Admin, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!
This pull request initiates the migration of the codebase from the pyautogen
library to the new ag2
library. This is a crucial step to ensure the project remains compatible with the latest tools and can leverage ongoing improvements, as pyautogen
is being deprecated. The change is straightforward, focusing on updating library references rather than altering core logic due to the stated syntax compatibility between the two libraries.
Highlights
- Library Migration: This pull request updates the project's dependency from the deprecated
pyautogen
library to its successor,ag2
. The change primarily involves updating installation instructions, as theag2
library maintains syntax compatibility withpyautogen
.

Code Review
This pull request initiates the migration from pyautogen
to ag2
by updating the installation command in an example's documentation. However, the migration is incomplete. The corresponding Python example code, which uses the library, has not been updated. This will likely break the example for users following the new instructions. I've added a critical comment highlighting this issue. The PR should be updated to include the necessary code changes in the Python files for the migration to be complete and functional.

1. First, make sure that you have installed AutoGen as well as memoryscope.
``` | |||
pip install pyautogen memoryscope
pip install ag2 memoryscope |
This change updates the installation command to use ag2
, but the associated example script examples/api/autogen_example.py
has not been updated.
The PR description itself mentions that "this migration primarily involves updating library imports and usage." However, the Python script still contains from autogen import ...
on line 3, which will likely cause an ImportError
when using the ag2
package.
This inconsistency will cause the example to fail. To complete the migration, examples/api/autogen_example.py
must also be updated to use the correct imports from the ag2
library.
Hey there! This is AG2 👋
First of all, thank you for using pyautogen! We've seen you're using pyautogen, and we're here to help you migrate to ag2.
This pull request is designed to help update this codebase by smoothly transitioning from the
pyautogen
library to the newag2
library.Why the change?
pyautogen
is being deprecated, andag2
is now the recommended successor for ongoing development.The good news is, there is no syntax difference between pyautogen and ag2 – this migration primarily involves updating library imports and usage.
This update will ensure the project stays compatible with the latest tools and can benefit from all the improvements in the ag2 ecosystem.
Could you please take a moment to review and merge this at your earliest convenience? Your collaboration is much appreciated! Thank you!
