Why this
Some popular packages were no longer maintained(markdown-it-task-lists 4 years ago, markdown-it-task-checkbox 4 years ago) and they were not pass the syntax check. This package (https://github.com/hedgedoc/markdown-it-better-task-lists) got a quick release after I fixed a rendering bug. It appears to be maintained by an organization.
It's written in TS and has unit tests.
