Using MakeBite
To create a modfile that can be installed using SnakeBite, use the included makebite application.
The UI is simple:
- Metadata on the left
- Mod files on the right
Fill out the metadata that will be displayed in SnakeBite, then select the directory containing your mod files.
To correctly install your mod, your directory structure needs to follow certain guidelines.
It is recommended that you unpack all FPK archives that will be included with your mod using GzsTool, then remove any files that you have not modified. These will be restored from the base game data during install.
If you do not unpack your archives, they will be automatically unpacked. When you build the modfile, the existing archive will be overwritten with any unpacked data.
Below you can see some sample data for Infinite Heaven
As you can see, Tex has only included files which are modified inside the project directory.
Once you have finished entering the data, click Do it (build archive) and select an output file.
During the build, metadata.xml will be generated in the root directory of your mod. This will be loaded next time you load the mod project.
After you have created metadata.xml in your project folder, you can automatically build the project from the command line as follows:
makebite.exe "<project folder>"
makebite will then fetch metadata.xml and readme.txt from the project folder, and output to mod.mgsv
