VMWare Tools
Enable VMWare Tools can enhance the integration with this hypervisor and improve performance. If you use VMWare, it is recommended that you install these tools as instructed below.
Note that there are two different packages available. You will only need the desktop version if you will be installing a graphical interface. MailCleaner does not come with a graphical interface by default. If you will not be doing so, you can omit that package below.
To install the VMWare tools, first connect to your MailCleaner through SSH or the local VMWare console as the root
user. Then update the package repository and install whichever package(s) you need:
apt-get update
apt-get install open-vm-tools open-vm-tools-desktop
Then reboot:
reboot
Currently there are no restrictions regarding support from VMware. VMware recommends using open-vm-tools instead of VMware tools as outlined in this article: (https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2073803)
This eliminates the need to separately install VMware Tools when open-vm-tools is bundled with the operating system because open-vm-tools is a fully-supported open source implementation of VMware Tools.
