Casting Guide

Once you have molten metals in your crucible, you'll want to cast them into useful items and blocks. This guide covers the casting system including tables, basins, and the casting process.

Casting Overview

Casting transforms molten fluids back into solid items and blocks:

  • Casting Tables: Create items (ingots, tools, etc.)
  • Casting Basins: Create blocks
  • Casts: Molds that determine the output shape
  • Cooling Time: Required waiting period for solidification

Casting Equipment

Casting Table

  • Function: Forms items from molten metals
  • Usage: Place casts on top, pour molten metal from above
  • Output: Items (ingots, nuggets, tools, etc.)

Casting Basin

  • Function: Forms blocks from molten metals
  • Usage: Pour molten metal directly into the basin
  • Output: Blocks (metal blocks, large components)

Casts and Molds

Available Casts

Ingot Cast

  • Creates: Metal ingots
  • Fluid Required: 144mb (1 ingot worth)
  • Recipe: Cast from gold (see Cast Creation below)

Nugget Cast

  • Creates: Metal nuggets
  • Fluid Required: 16mb (1 nugget worth)
  • Recipe: Cast from gold (see Cast Creation below)

Cast Creation

Casts are created by casting gold around existing items:

Ingot Cast Recipe:

  1. Place any ingot on a Casting Table
  2. Pour 2x ingot worth of Molten Gold (288mb) over it
  3. Wait for cooling
  4. Result: Ingot Cast
  5. Warning: This consumes the ingot in process

Nugget Cast Recipe:

  1. Place any metal nugget on a Casting Table
  2. Pour 2x ingot worth of Molten Gold (288mb) over it
  3. Wait for cooling
  4. Result: Nugget Cast
  5. Warning: This consumes the nugget in process

Casting Process

Casting Steps

  1. Place Cast: Put the appropriate cast on the Casting Table or Basin
    1. Some recipe might require a different type of item or none at all.
  2. Pour Metal: Use Crucible Faucet or manual pouring to fill the cast
  3. Wait for Cooling: Cooling time varies by item type
  4. Collect Result: The cast remains, the item is produced

Fluid Requirements

Standard Amounts

Based on configurable values (default):

  • Nugget: 16mb
  • Ingot: 144mb
  • Block: 1,296mb (9 ingots worth)
