Guest Speakers

Typically, we’ve had guest speakers come in once a month and give a talk about something they are interested in. They have always provided food and usually bring company swag.

Elizabeth Davis (Gallup)

Alex James

Alex James (email pending) gave a talk about his experience through an undergrad in CS/math, grad school for CS, and his work at Garmin doing audio encryption in Fall 2018 as part of a join ACM and Math Dept event.

Anthony Carlson (Farm Credit Services of America)

Anthony Carlson, along with a couple engineers at FCSA, gave a talk about live application monitoring at FCSA in Fall 2018. He also came back in Spring 2019 to talk about blockchain. He is now at FNBO.

Yuliya Lierler (UNO)

Dr. Lierler mailto:ylierler@unomaha.edu gave a talk about the UNO Grad Program, which included a panel of current grad students for Q/A.

Brandon Pfeifer (Garmin)

Brandon mailto:brandon.pfeifer@garmin.com gave a talk about iterative software architecture and design in Fall 2020 semester. He’s a former UNO alumni and president of PKI-IEEE. Garmin usually does recruiting at UNO around September/October every year, with him being part of that recruiting team. If you reach out to him early enough, he’ll give a talk to the club while he’s up here. Make sure you invite the IEEE folk to the talk too.

Kirby Bohling (Google)

Kirby Bohling mailto:kirby.bohling@gmail.com, gave a talk about a difficult problem he solved regarding identifying users at a casino in Fall 2019. He’s always down to help out and give a talk, so reach out to Dr. Elder and him.

Cary Clark (BHMI)

Cary Clark mailto:cary.clark@bhmi.com gave a talk about using context and dependency injection in order to customize software modules/plugins for different customer requests in Fall 2020.
